Nutcase, a leader in personalized products, was offered our recommendations to improve the user experience on their Personalized Water Bottle product detail page (PDP). The aim was to clarify the customization process, reduce friction in the buying journey, and provide an optimized sample for them to consider.
The current product page appeared functional but seemed to lack optimal user flow and clarity in several areas, potentially impacting conversions. Possible issues included product description placement, the live preview feature which might have disrupted the user experience, and multiple CTAs that could have caused confusion and hesitation for customers.
After a thorough evaluation of the PDP, we made the following key recommendations for improvement:
1. Thumbnail Images with Product Explainers
The current thumbnail has quality lifestyle images and variant shots. Adding images that highlight product features will give customers quick, essential information right from the start.
2. Product Description Optimization
The top section of the page plays a critical role in converting visitors. While color swatches are important, they can be moved into the personalization tab where they are more useful. Use the space below the heading for key product features in bullet points.
3. Personalization Tab
In the current design, the live preview image loads above the thumbnails, which can disrupt the user experience and affect site speed by impacting Core Web Vitals like FCP and CLS. Additionally, the image sticks to the top until the user scrolls past the ATC button, which may cause confusion.
We propose a dedicated section for the preview image that loads as the user scrolls down. This section will be clearly separated, with instructions for smooth navigation.
4. Clear CTA with Shipping Badges
Previously, there were multiple buttons (Add to Cart, Buy Now, Preview), all landing in a sliding cart, which can confuse users. A single CTA button improves conversions by reducing choice paralysis. This button will also update if the product quantity is changed. Additionally, including badges for free shipping and COD information minimizes perceived risk, encouraging purchase.
Additional Suggestions
Sticky Personalization Button
A sticky button that directs users to the personalization section should always be visible, allowing them to access it easily when ready to purchase.
Reviews with UGC
Each product should have at least 5 reviews with user-generated content (photos) to build trust and credibility with visitors.
The recommendations provided Nutcase with a clear roadmap to simplify the customization process, improve user engagement, and reduce purchasing friction. These enhancements were designed to increase conversions by delivering a smoother, more intuitive user experience while building trust through clearer product information and personalization tab.
